Those visiting Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, will often find themselves residing in hotels in Eastern Mangroves District, an urban sanctuary which brings together hotels, the marina and residencies in one location. Home to a dynamic ecosystem which protects the coast from erosion, the district also hosts many luxurious resort options such as Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa by Anantara among many others that is ideal for the traveller with discerning tastes. While the district itself is relaxing and beautiful, there are a number of activities visitors can engage in, including a visit to the famed Yas Island. For those with an interest in history, the Heritage Village is a mere seven miles away. Alternatively, one can opt to visit the Hili Archaeological Garden which, though located outside the District, is worth a visit.
The UNESCO plays an immense role in safeguarding, preserving and protecting the archaeological sites for future generations. For those visiting the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, the Hili Archaeological Garden is one of them. Inscribed as a World Heritage Site by UNESO in 2011, the Hili Archaeological Park is the Cultural Sites of Al Ain (Hafit, Hili, Bidaa Bint Saud and Oases Areas). A Bronze Age site, the Park is a wonderful place to visit for history buffs for there are a number of remains of settlements and tombs that can be visited. Furthermore, the remains of a falaj; the intricate water networks developed in the Emirates, can also be seen within the Park. Visitors can also observe the Hili Grand Tomb as well.
The artefacts discovered in the Hili Archaeological Garden can be seen at the Al Ain National Museum. These findings are considered a marvellous discovery for some of the artefacts are believed to be over 4,000 years old. Additionally, the Fossil Valley, which is located close to Hili, is home to numerous fossils from the time when the region was underwater. A visit to the Hili Archeological Gardens will not be regretted, and the Park is open for visitors from 4-11pm daily.
