Lady Diana Spencer, the late Princess of Wales, after her marriage to Prince Charles, has been photographed in many places across the world. During her visit to the Middle East, the late Princess of Wales visited the Jabal Akhdar located on the Sayyaq Plateau near the city of Nizwa in Oman. Her visit in 1986 Oman has caused many to fondly refer to the Viewpoint atop of Jabal Akhdar as Diana’s Viewpoint.
Those who reside in an Oman resort in the vicinity of the Al Hajar Mountains, such as the Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort, one of the few luxury resorts in the area, will find a magical view atop the Jabal Akhdar. Those who visit the summit of Jabal Akhdar, the Green Mountain, will be spoilt for choice in terms of vantage points. Because of the plateau like summit of the Mountain, there is much to see, and many a place to see from. One such viewpoint is the Sunset Point, well known as a superb spot to observe the setting sun whose golden rays set the surrounding peaks alight.
Another such vantage point is obviously Diana’s Viewpoint. This particular vantage point has been given this name after Princess Diana visited the Green Mountain. Those who visit the Viewpoint will be treated to an amazing view of Oman. From this spot, visitors can witness the rocky hills of the area, receding into the far distance, as well as the iconic Al Ain. This stunning view is complemented by a heart stopping drop that is quite steep, just beyond the viewpoint and thus, exercising caution when taking in the view is an absolute must.
