Inside the Grand Mosque is the most magical chandeliers you have ever set eyes on. The jewel of an ornament took about 4 years to complete. Over 600,000 Swarovski crystals were used with 24-carat gold plating and ultimately weighs about 8.5 tons.
Anyone can explore
This is one of the rare mosques that allow non-worshippers to come in and explore. However, there are a few rules you’ll have to follow. Ladies will have to be dressed conservatively and cover their heads. Men are not allowed to wear shorts either. Kids under the age of 10 are not allowed inside.
The numbers
The mosque took six years to build and was finally completed in 2001. The entire building is made of sandstone that weighs about 300,000 tons. The mosque covers an entire area of 416, 000 sqm.
