The Kandawgyi Lake, also known as the royal lake, is one of the two biggest lakes in Yangon. The Kanda ds the lake on one side and the Yangon Zoological Gardens takes up the other side.
Walking in
The Kandawgyi Park spreads over 260acres, which consist of both land and water. The lake, large trees and many types of colourful and vivid flowers make this park a really relaxing place to walk around in. Many locals and travellers spend evenings here, picnicking while they watch the sun go down. There is also the Karaweik Palace inside the park, which showcases brilliant pieces of artwork from the golden days.
Location
The Kandawgyi Nature Park is walking distance from many a hotel in Yangon. If you are staying at Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon for example, this park is just a 10-minute walk away from the place.
When to go
The Park is open from 4am until 10pm every day, and the entry fee is 1,000 Kyats per person. The timings are kept as such to allow the visitors to fully enjoy the beautiful sunrise and sunset views the park has to offer.
