Gangaramaya & Simamalaka

The Gangaramaya Buddhist temple features an eclectic collection of religious items including a fascinating array of statues of Lord Buddha. This site is easy to reach for those staying at a Colombo City hotel along with the nearby Simamalaka Shrine, a sacred site perched above the waters of the Beira Lake.
Independence Memorial Hall
Built to commemorate the nation’s independence, this hall with its distinctive open design can be found in an area called Independence Square, within 10 minutes of Colombo Court Hotel & Spa. Apart from the hall with its Kandyan Kingdom style architecture, the area is also popular for recreation.
The National Museum
Sri Lanka’s largest museum, the National Museum is housed in a historical colonial building and showcases a large collection of artefacts and exhibits including carvings, weapons, art and traditional masks. Amongst the highlights here is the golden throne used by ancient kings.
Galle Face Green
One of the most beloved places for some relaxation by the sea, this public space draws in a great many people especially in the evening and at night. You can enjoy family picnics, fly a kite with the kids, take a stroll along the promenade, frolic in the water or try some of the city’s famed street food too.
