Around 30 kilometres from the Chinese province of Shenyang lies the still mysterious Strange Slope together with the five great mountains and three mysteries that all form to create this strange and unusual phenomenon.
Situated in a 9 square kilometre area and measuring 15 meters in width and 80 meters in length, this slope is strange and mysterious due to its apparent violation of the laws of gravity. A vehicle especially a bicycle taken to the bottom of the slope will result in the car or bicycle being pushed up the slope effortlessly and with no help from the driver/rider. However coming down the slope will warrant a strenuous ride of the bicycle.
Scientists and researchers have attributed this strange phenomenon to optical illusions and possible magnetic fields underground that result in such activity. However as of now no proof or evidence has been found to support this theory. As such since the slope’s discovery in 1990, visitors both local and foreign have continued to flock to Shenyang and to the slope area to witness and test out this strange experience.
Xiangshan and Wongding are two mountains situated close by which are the other two mysteries of the area. When one stomps on Xiangshan a loud and resonating sounds emits from the earth and Wongding produces a dull hammer hitting the ground sound when stomped on.
Apart from these 3 mysteries, there are also five great mountains shaped like a dragon and three floating turtles, all of which make this area a strong and busy tourist attraction.
