The first of its kind, the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Queensland, Australia is a super place for kids and animal lovers; here you not only get to see the country’s iconic koalas but have the chance to hold them as well!

Visiting the koalas
This popular sanctuary can be found in Fig Tree Pocket, a suburb of Brisbane. It is around 12 km from the city centre making it easy to access if you are staying at Brisbane hotels in CBD. It is open daily from 09:00am to 05:00pm.
A home sweet home
Spread across 44 acres, the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is home to more than 130 cute and cuddly koalas. Within 20 minutes from iStay River City, this sanctuary which is the largest of its kind in the world is a place where you can see koalas of all ages be it joeys (babies), those in the adolescent stages and even the oldies!
Other animal residents
It is not just koalas that one will find here. The sanctuary has lots of free ranging kangaroos as well as other Australian wildlife including emus, wallabies, Tasmanian devils, dingoes and platypuses.
Special memories
For a truly remarkable experience ensure you go to the section where you can actually hold a koala. There is a chance to have your photo taken with certain other wildlife too including snakes, while hand-feeding kangaroos and the sheepdog and raptor shows are treats for young and old alike as well.
