Tower’s History
Dating to the Three Kingdoms Period, the original Yellow Crane Tower is believed to have been constructed in 223 AD; through the centuries it was destroyed and rebuilt several times; the structure you see today dates to the 1980s and is a reconstruction of the tower of 1884 during the Qing Dynasty.

The Yellow Crane Tower inspired many poets including famed Cui Hao from the Tang Dynasty who is depicted in a mural here. As you work your way up, you will also see inscriptions by poets, calligraphy and murals on the tower’s history and legend. At the summit, breathtaking views over the river and the city await.
