Established in 1994, the Gaborone Mokolodi Nature Reserve is a privately owned reserve in Botswana which is currently the home for many species of animals. It also acts as a research hub for researchers, a breeding centre and a sanctuary for some animal species.
Where is it?
The reserve is in Botswana in south Gaborone. From any of the hotels in Gaborone, the nature reserve is very close by and public transportation modes are also available.
What to see?
Gaborone Mokolodi Nature Reserve is the home to giraffes, kudus, hippos, rhinos, elephants, zebras, waterbucks, and baboons too. It protects more than 300 bird species in it while being the safe place to some cheetahs, leopards, and jackals.
Where to stay?
If you are going with your family, in fact, you have your main consideration of safety and comfort. One of the best-suggested places for you to accommodate is Avani Gaborone Resort & Casino which is just 17 km away from the Gaborone Mokolodi Nature Reserve.
Going there with kids?
Traveling to Botswana with kids can be a little challenging because they generally don’t love challenging distances. But, due to all the specialties of the natural reserve, going with kids will still be worth it. Make sure you avoid the months December-March for your visits because the reserve is closed during the rainy season.
