The Aotea Square and old-world charm
The name of this big space so to say is derived from the Mauri language which is Motu Aotea. It is said to mean the “Great Barrier Island”. Opposite this site is the Town Hall which is a contrast in structure compared to the modern skyscrapers in the city! This old colonial-style building is still in use too.
