24 Hours in Auckland – Special Highlights

Placed on the North Island of beautiful New Zealand, Auckland is the country’s biggest city. It is affectionately named the City of Sails due to the abundance of sailing boats in the Bay of Auckland. When it comes to things to do there is plenty here in Auckland, but if you are tight on time, this article highlights a few main attractions to look out for.

Viaduct Harbour

Passing the Ferry Building, if you are looking for the perfect point to begin your exploration of the city, Viaduct Harbour by the edge of the waters is ideal. The views from here are absolutely stunning. The sight of the Harbour Bridge from here is one worth capturing.

Queen Street

Take a chilled stroll through Queens street and you’ll find that this is the place for you to take out that cash and get spending on your shopping! If you aren’t quite into that though, check out Sky Tower from where you are sure to be satisfied with panoramic views of CBD.

The Aotea Square and old-world charm

The name of this big space so to say is derived from the Mauri language which is Motu Aotea. It is said to mean the “Great Barrier Island”. Opposite this site is the Town Hall which is a contrast in structure compared to the modern skyscrapers in the city! This old colonial-style building is still in use too.
