Baan Daam Museum which is also known as the Black House is a creation by Thailand’s all-time talented artist- Thawan Duchanee. In many ways, this is the dark reflection of the White Temple, which is located on the other side of Chiang Rai city.
About the place
The Black House was once the residence of Duchanee and a studio. Now it is a collection of wood buildings and other works by the creator artist and other contemporary Thai artists. The unusual carvings you find at this place will amaze you and make you have second thoughts too.

Getting in from Chiang Rai
From your hotel in Chiang Rai, you just have to take the local bus to reach the Black House. If this is not the option you prefer, you may also try the tuk-tuks that are readily available in the town, which are also quite affordable.
Things you should know
If you are wondering whether you should be fully covered before you leave Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort, your place of accommodation to visit this Black House, the answer is no! You really don’t! It’s not a temple to do so. However, it is better to take some sunscreen and plenty of water as the climate can be a little too hot there.
Opening times and entry fee
This place is open from 09.00 am to 5.00 pm daily and there is an entrance fee applicable per person. Exploring the venue will take a little longer than 01 hour, and it’s always the best to go in the evening or in the morning.
