You will just have to drive through Chiang Rai to see one of the most wonderful pieces of religious art right in the middle of the road! Yes, guess you could say it’s a part of heaven on the main road. Here’s a little more about the Clock Tower.
The structure
If you know about the white temple, then you will probably find this structure placed in front of one of the first hotel in Chiang Rai similar to that of the White Temple. This is because the structure was done by the same architect.
The colours
In Thai culture the colour white symbolises purity and that’s what the Clock Tower depicts as well. The only other colour is gold which makes it look as grand as ever.
The lights
The Clock Tower puts on a show of lights every day at 7 pm, 8pm and 9 pm. You simply cannot miss this, and you will definitely not if you are staying at Hotel Sooknirund, just a hop skip and a jump away.
Enjoy it the local way
If you would like to enjoy this display but aren’t staying anywhere close by, make sure to make it to Thanon Baanpa Pragarn and Thanon Jet Yot intersection.
