The Middle East has a rich history with plenty of warriors, kings and all-around heroes. One of the most significant of these was Sheikh Isa Bin Ali Al Khalifa, whose reign lasted 63 years.
Background
His iconic residence was built during the 1800s and is spectacular. It is widely believed to be one of the best examples of a luxurious traditional house before the discovery of oil and the prosperity that followed.
The Icon Who Lived There
Sheikh Isa Bin Ali Al Khalifa was born in 1848 and ruled the nation from 1869 till his death in 1932. During his last days, he was semi-retired, under the behest of a British Political Advisor, and a ‘successor’ was elected as a vice-ruler.

Architecture and Setting
The house is quite massive and has an intriguing structure to it. The house is more like a residential complex of sorts that features several rooms that have been arranged around a total of four courtyards. There are several wind towers for ventilation purposes.
