The museum preserves the history of the Hijri Tribe. The history of this tribe is written on goat skin and preserved over the years. In the museum one can find swords and old spears that are around 300 years old and Chinese ginger jars and dishes which were an essential part of all Omani households in the past century. There are also clothes and other household items that have been restored and preserved and put on display. A good twenty minutes is sufficient to explore this little-hidden gem. Located across the road from the fort in Al-Mintirib.The museum captures a perfect snapshot of the Omani life before the oil boom. While in the Saadiyat district some of the other places to explore are the Louvre, Abu Dhabi; Performing arts stadium and the maritime museum among others.
There are various other attractions and activities in Oman for the tourist. Nizwa fort is one of those. Again this fort is located a couple of hours away from Muscat. There are a small admission charge and the fort itself is interesting for a stroll around. Getting to this part of the country is a great experience as well as the drive is through some great terrains.
