Located toward the East of Bentota, Dedduwa Lake is rather popular for its scenic water bodies and the surrounding marshy lands. It is a must-visit place during a vacation spent at one of the luxury hotels in Sri Lanka.
A Serene Paradise
Dedduwa Lake is an ideal location for those who adore nature and architecture, all at the same time. The lake offers fascinating activities while Lunuganga Estate takes one to a fascinating world filled with architectural delights.
Things to Do
Dedduwa lake, which is located approximately 10.6 kilometres away from Saman Villas, is an ideal location to embark on a solo kayaking trip. Listen to the rhythmic slosh of the water and the distant melodies of the birds and you will be transported into an entirely different world.
Dedduwa Lake is quite popular due to the famous Lunuganga Estate located on its banks. It was Geoffrey Bawa’s country estate and it was named as Lunuganga by Bawa himself; it can be translated as Salt River from the native language.
Departure Point to the Lake
The Water Gate of Lunuganga Estate, which can be found right near Dedduwa Lake was used (and is still in use today) as the entrance point for all the boats that need to go sailing at the lake and toward the islands of Appaladuwa and Honduwa.
