Spanning an area of 134 km², Koh Lanta National Park is situated in the southern area of Krabi province. Although initially established as a marine park in the year 1990, there is now much to see.
Opening Times
Visiting Koh Lanta National Park is one of the best things to do in Krabi. Many are happy to hear that the park is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. But it is open only from the 1st of November to the 15th of May. That is because Thailand experiences its rainy season from the 16th of May until the 31st of October. Thus, this is considered to be the off-season to ensure the visitor’s safety.
Entrance Fees
If staying at a property such as the Avani+ Koh Lanta, one may have based the entire trip around a visit to the Koh Lanta National Park. In that case, it would be advisable to know the park admission fee in advance. As of 2023, it is 400 Baht for adults and 200 Baht for children.
Where to Stay
As there are only a few lodgings available in the park, it is advisable to book these establishments well in advance. Furthermore, it should be known that these sites can only accommodate 4 individuals as they only have 2 rooms. Therefore, ensure that you travel in a small group and make sure to make the payment within 2 days of making the booking.
The Wildlife at the Park
Although this was initially created as a marine park, it houses approximately 130 species of birds along with some Dugongs. However, a sighting of a Dugong is extremely rare.
