Some interesting legends and folk tales are related about this area. The story goes that a local mountain deity once was in love with a female deity Semo. The god presented a magic mirror which was formed of cloud and wind to his beloved. However an evil spirit intervened and caused the goddess to inadvertently break the mirror – into 108 fragments. These pieces fell upon the Earth and, it is said, created 108 shimmering lakes. As the environs of the valley are so beautiful, it is not surprising that these intriguing folk tales are associated with it.
