The breathtaking Kadiyanlena Falls calls to mind the pristine, untouched beauty of the remote Kadiyanlena Village nestled among the sky scraping mountains in the verdant hill country. A spectacular veil of water plunging from 8 metres, the falls is a breathtaking spectacle you should not miss when passing through Nawalapitiya.
Kadiyanlena Falls
Even though the falls leisurely flow into the pool beneath during the months with lesser rainfall, during the rainy season the misty drops bouncing off the vigorous flow even reaches the nearby road. A breathtaking sight, this three-tiered waterfall flows to the second and the third tiers underneath a bridge on the Nawalapitiya Road.
Reaching Kadiyanlena Falls
The waterfall is found en route from Dimbula to Nawalapitiya. Those on a unique getaway at hotels in Nuwara Eliya including popular accommodation options such as Mas Villa by FOX Resorts can visit this spectacle if you take the Avissawella-Hatton-Nuwara Eliya Highway and proceed to the Nawalapitiya-Dimbula Road. Although it might take some time to get there, you have the benefit of passing other famous falls en route such as the St. Claire’s and Devon waterfalls.
The Two Segments of the Fall
The water from the pool below the first segment descends into the second pool through a wide rock creating the second segment of the fall of about 6-7 metres. With the third segment that flows under the arch of the bridge, the waterfall measures a total 25 metres.
Other Attractions in the Area
If you have time in your hands, you can visit other attractions in the area such as Belilena, Aberdeen Falls and Asupini Ella Falls. These attractions are located 1.5-2 hours away from the Kadiyanlena Falls.
