Kandyan Dance
A dancing style with elegant and unique clothes, accessories backed up by rhythmic drumbeats. You are sure to have goose bumps as you witness these traditional dance moves, even if you are a non-Sri Lankan.
Other dance performances
Among the other dance styles, there are mask dances and cobra dances and they all have unique features. Ginisila is another popular dance style where the fire is used as a dancing tool.
The Temple of Sacred Tooth Relic
One of the most significant places to visit in Kandy is the Temple of Sacred Tooth Relic. The sacred Relic of Tooth of Lord Buddha is housed here and many poojas (worshipping sessions) occur daily to honour the Relic.
Dalada Perehera – the procession
While you read through sites such as Kandy Escapes, you’ll realize that Kandy is said to become much more eventful and graceful during July- August. This is because of the Dalada Perehera- one of the most colourful processions in South Asia depicting many traditions and cultures.
