If you love exploring the wonders of nature, then when next in Thailand plan a visit to the Khao Khitchakut National Park in Chanthaburi. It may be one of the country’s smaller parks, but it still offers lots to see and experience.
Planning a visit
Located in the province of Chanthaburi, the park is some way off from Bangkok though you can plan a day trip from there. If you happen to be staying at a golf resort Thailand has to offer in the Chanthaburi area such as Chatrium Golf Resort Soi Dao Chanthaburi then getting here is less time consuming and will only take around an hour or so.
Exploring the park
Made up of deciduous and evergreen forests and verdant mountain landscapes, Khao Khitchakut National Park has a range of wildlife as well as plant life including wild orchids. There are specially marked forest trails for you to explore; many these trails require a guide so do stop by at the park headquarters to find out more.
Highlights
Amongst the experiences one can look forward to include a hike to the top of Phrabat Mountain where you will find fascinating rock formations and visits to the Changsay and Krathing waterfalls; the latter of which has around 13 levels.
Wildlife
Khao Khitchakut National Park is also home to various wildlife including barking deer, elephants and bears. There are plenty of birds here too, making it a great spot for avid bird watchers.
