Home to a number of Taoist temples and various other sites, Mount Qingcheng is an ancient cradle of Taoism. An oasis of tranquillity, the mountain has a total of 36 peaks. Although the prevailing buildings are constructions of the Qing Dynasty, a well retained Daoist temple from the Tang Dynasty can also be seen. Sitting near the peak is Shangqing Temple established during the Jin Dynasty. At the base of the mountain is the Jianfu Temple.
