Sometimes the best “art” is the one done by Mother Nature herself! Such natural marvels can be seen in the Silver Fox Cave in China where one can witness a truly amazing and unique calcite crystal formation that is much like a fuzzy white fox. The cave can be found around 60 kms from the country’s capital and travellers can consider basing themselves at Beijing apartments in the city such as Ascott Beijing, an ideal starting point to your adventures.
Known for its distinctive stalactites, the Silver Fox Cave is located in the Fangshan District and offers visitors an enchanting adventure. On your tour of the cave you will come across enthralling karst landscapes, waterfalls, towering stone pillars, white stalagmites and stone chrysanthemums. Considered one of the country’s National Treasures, the site also features underground rivers and visitors have a chance to enjoy a captivating boat ride on the water, providing a unique journey of discovery. Some believe that these waters contain beneficial and special microelements due to the fact that it has a high natural mineral content. This particular underground waterway is about 106 metres underground and the boat ride gives one a chance to take in the changing landscapes.
Thought the Silver Fox Cave runs for over 10 km, at present only around 5 km is open for public viewing. While the main cave is vast and imposing, there are many other caves here too, each different sizes and offering different attractions to see.
