Nestled in between the hills of Sri Lanka is a city known as Kandy, a place full of tradition and culture. When in Kandy, make sure you pay a visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth relic for a lesson on religion.

You don’t actually get to see the tooth as it is kept inside of a golden casket that is guarded heavily. However, the premises in which the tooth is held has a lot more for you to explore and is a great stop that will give you an in-depth insight into the religion of Buddhism and the role it plays in the local peoples’ lives.
Location
The temple is located in Kandy, which is located approximately no more than 140 km from Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. You can opt to get to Kandy by train, which will take you around 2 and a half hours or by car, which will take you around four hours. If you opt to stay at one of the many hotels in Kandy, Sri Lanka, then you can choose an option such as Cinnamon Citadel Kandy which is located in a convenient spot to several attractions.
Things to remember
You need to keep in mind that the temple is a place of worship which devotees visit quite often, therefore, you must be on your best behavior, follow the rules and be dressed appropriately so as not to offend anyone or get in trouble.
