History
Built during the era of Ida Tjokorda Putu Kandel, from 1800 to 1823, the Royal Palace has been well taken care of by the generations after and still looks as immaculate as it did on the day it was built.
Location
Visiting the Royal Palace is a must when in Ubud, and almost every Ubud hotel is located within a travelling distance of the palace, you can take a quick tour if you are staying at a place like Alila Ubud. You can plan a drive to the Royal Palace, and also cover quite a few famous spots while you drive up and down the roads.
How to get there
About an hour’s drive away from Denpasar, the palace also acts as a great stopover location to take breaks from long drives. Close to the palace, you can find the Ubud Art Market and the Babi Guling Bu Oka warung, which is known to serve the best spit roast pig in the country.
