Sultan Qaboos Masjid
Located 13 minutes from Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara, Sultan Qaboos Masjid is at the top of Oman’s list of tourist highlights. Named after the longest-serving leader in the Arab world, Qaboos bin Said Al Said, the mosque touts’ Islamic architecture; its massive dome, minarets and two prayer halls are the key features.
Taqa Castle
With a history going back to the 19th century, Taqa Castle has archaeological and historical significance. The remaining parts of the castle consist of bedrooms, kitchens, a jail, and storerooms. There’s a massive collection of items on display here, which include jewellery, traditional garments, and ancient household equipment.
Al Husan Souq
For a complete Salalah experience, do a bit of shopping at Al Husan Souq. This traditional marketplace has a collection of shops that sell everything from clothes to souvenirs to perfumes and frankincense. Also, to cater to the tourists who visit the place, within the vicinity of the souq are numerous Oman restaurants selling both local and international specialities.
Wadi Darbat
Located amidst towering green hills, Wadi Darbat is an ideal choice of attraction for nature lovers. Along with a number of caves that scatter throughout the valley, there’s also a beautiful waterfall. The valley is a popular tourist attraction; however, it has a peaceful atmosphere perfect for relaxing; you can also grab a snack from one of the stalls while exploring.
