The city of Nizwa in Oman is a gem in the Middle East which has recently been unearthed to reveal its true colours. Here you will find the Saiq Plateau which is well worth visiting for it is one of Oman’s rarities of nature.
Nizwa
Located on the Northern side of Oman, the city of Nizwa is blessed abundantly with a myriad of attractions be it historic or natural. Although only recently recognized as a city for tourism, Nizwa is fast gaining popularity and is now home to a range of exquisite hotels and resorts.
Stay
Nizwa features a treasure-trove of exquisite attractions that are known to mesmerize all those who lay eyes on these wonders. Among the many things to do in Nizwa Oman, visiting the Saiq Plateau is a must. While you are here, consider staying at hotels such as Alila Jabal Akhdar before embarking on this voyage of discovery.
Geography
In the days gone by, the Saiq Plateau was a not easily accessible place in Oman. It was subsequently formatted with tarmac to permit entry to the plateau through Birkat al Mawz within forty minutes without which it required a six-hour trudge to the top.
Environmental Condition
Perched at a height of 2000 metres, the dizzying passage of Wadi Al Ayn is surrounded by roughly hewn peaks to the north and to its south. The climate type permits the production of a variety of fruits which cannot be grown in the lowlands due to its intense heat.
