Getting There
If you’re leaving from Muscat, do so early in the morning to avoid the unbearable heat of the day. You should arrive there in two hours. Make sure you travel by a 4×4 as the last stretch of the journey is really steep.
History
During the 1950s, the Jebel Akhdar War was taken place at this mountain site. Much later in 2011, Sultan Qaboos designated Jebel Akhdar a nature reserve in recognition of its unique and sensitive biodiversity.
Importance
You’d come across several important features such as rock art sites that exhibit figures dating several millennia back at Jebel Akhdar.

You’d be surprised at the dense vegetation present here, right in the middle of a dry mountain range. The terraced orchards will greet you with apricots, pomegranates, and rose bushes.
